Virtual Jazz Vespers from All Saints’ Anglican Church, Westboro (Ottawa)
This is the first in a series of videos I created in an attempt to keep Jazz Vespers alive in the hearts and minds of our tiny following. The videos seem to be mildly popular, often getting more views than would have attended an actual service. Not sure if this is because people can view from anywhere, or just that the videos are pretty short, relative to an hour-long service!
Each of the videos uses a different piece of music, generally from musicians that play our Jazz Vespers. The images are either my own photographs or from stock images and attribution is given where possible. The texts are texts that have been used in Jazz Vespers services in the past. If you watch more than one, you will notice that the style changes as I become more familiar with PowerPoint and YouTube.
The music in this particular video is Sometimes Sadness by Tim Bedner and is from his CD “Of Light and Shadow.” The whole CD is lovely, luminous, and, indeed, numinous. I highly recommend heading over to Tim’s website and downloading or ordering it.
